There are some basic rules for gaining entry into the hottest nightclubs. If you follow them closely, you’ll likely end up on the inside, rather than the outside. Look below for some guidelines to get you there.
Don’t be rude: It’s very easy to get testy and impatient especially when you’re standing in a long line and it’s either very cold or very hot outside and you’ve got nothing to drink. But, if you resort to rudeness or nastiness, all you’re going to get is a kick to the curb. People don’t take kindly to rudeness. Lashing out will only make the door host angry. Try to keep a smile on your face and don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to the gate keeper. Tell them you’ve heard it’s a great place and want to check it out.
Don’t drop names: It usually doesn’t work and it makes you look pompous–especially if you’re lying.
Try visiting on weeknights or off days: Often times, if you can’t get in on the weekend, you’ll have a much better chance getting in when it’s less busy. You can even try Friday nights, as they do tend to be slower than Saturday, but be sure to arrive early—before midnight.

Before you decide to go during the week, give the club a ring to make sure they’ll be open.
Tipping does work, if done right: Usually people tip the door host between $20-$100, just so they don’t have to wait in line. The key is to make sure no one sees you handing out the tip. In order to keep it on the down low, use the handshake concealment method. Place the cash in the palm of your hand and shake hands with the doorkeeper.
Don’t show up to the door looking like you just got up Dress to impress. Comb your hair. Put on a nice shirt. Also, think about where you’re going. Not all places have the same standards. If you’re going to a club with a hip hop vibe, a suit and tie may make you look out of place.
Once you do get in, enjoy yourself and remember to behave.
